Something for Nothing

Everyone wants something for nothing these days. And who can blame them? Jittery markets, fluctuating fuel prices, and politicians that seem to want more every day, prompt each of us to look for ways to save money. People are tired of paying through the nose for things with short term warranties and shoddy workmanship. What everybody really wants is a little peace of mind when they make a purchase.

We can give all of our customers something valuable and it costs us nothing. Great service is valuable. I would even dare say it is at a premium these days. You might say, "Customer service takes time, which costs you money." Fair enough, time is money, but weren't you planning on working today anyway? Is every moment of your day consumed with initial sales contacts? If not, then you have time to provide superior customer service.

Standing out from the crowd is what business is all about. One sure fire way to get noticed is to offer customer service that surprises even your best customers. You don't have to go overboard, just offer the service you would expect, and customers will love you for it.

Referrals from satisfied customers will start to come in, and you will keep existing customers longer, maybe even for life. Not bad for something that costs you nothing more than time.
