The Power of
Experience in Business
|
There's simply no substitute for
experience. In business,
experience is your greatest ally
- helping you sidestep both the
obvious and the hidden pitfalls
that can drain your time and
money. While enthusiasm often
appears to be a worthy stand-in,
even the most driven, energetic
newcomer can hit roadblocks they
don't yet know how to navigate
or avoid. Running a business is
a lot like driving: a little
time behind the wheel goes a
remarkably long way.
Experience doesn't just keep
things running smoothly - it
helps you steer clear of costly
accidents along the route.
Consider the inexperienced
individual who follows their
instincts and signs a contract
without proper review; in a
single stroke, they could put
their entire company at risk.
Experience may not guarantee a
flawless track record, but it
dramatically reduces the chance
that a mistake will become a
catastrophic one.
At its
core, experience is often simply
having faced a particular
situation before and knowing how
it played out. That insight
empowers seasoned owners to
decide - based on past results -
whether to handle a new
challenge the same way or chart
a different course.
And
here's an interesting point:
experience doesn't always come
with age. Some people gather
invaluable lessons as children
working alongside their parents,
in educational settings, or
through any number of
unconventional paths. What
matters most is the ability to
apply that experience, wherever
it was earned. After all, a
lifetime of experience means
nothing if it can't be put to
work.
Many business
lessons translate seamlessly
from one venture to the next,
while others are highly
specific. The specifics can
always be learned - but the
broad, hard-won wisdom that
experience brings to a business
is something you simply can't
replace.

Just For Grins
 |
- I am now at the age
where picking up a hottie at the club means buying
a rotisserie chicken at Costco.
- Pro tip: Save
business cards of people you don't like. If you
ever accidentally hit a parked car, just write
"sorry" on the back and leave it on the windshield.
- If I owned a taser I
would probably get curious to see how it feels and
use it on myself, and that's why I don't have a
taser.
- Sometimes I read a
text and think wow what a psycho... then I press
send.
- And yet again this
morning. No one was standing next to my bed saying
your royal highness, here is your coffee.
- So Daffy Duck and
Elmer Fudd break into a distillery. Daffy turns to
Elmer and says: "is this whiskey?" Elmer says: "yeth
but not as whiskey as wobbing a bank!"
- If you fill the Piñata
with ketchup, you will never have to host a
children's birthday party again. You're welcome.
- Mind blown! Even if a
bear wears socks and shoes he still has bear feet.
- To all the people that
always said I'd never amount to anything because of
my procrastination. Just you wait.
- Girls....unless he
wears a diaper, you can't change him!
- He got fired from his
job for asking customers whether they would prefer
"smoking" or "non-smoking". Apparently the correct
terms are "cremation" and "burial".
