Not So Crazy Ways to Promote Your Website

There are plenty of crazy ways to promote your website. Many of them actually work but here are a few tips that will help you avoid the little white jacket.

Try a trade show: Be sure and have plenty of brochures available and a banner with your website address and logo should be prominent. A "Join our mail list and enter to win a prize" campaign can be very successful.

Give Away: Offer something free with each purchase. A car dealer may give a maintenance guide away with each parts purchase. Make sure the give away has your website address prominently displayed. Use the give away as a bridge to your website. The car dealer could offer expanded or more in depth tips on the dealers website.

Auto decals: Promote your website with bumper stickers or auto decals that display your website address. You can advertise anywhere you drive.

Classified Ads: Small classified ads offer a cost effective to way to expose people to your website. Keep the ad simple and include your website address.

Be innovative; create ideas that work with your industry or brand. These tips will get you started and help you avoid getting that URL tattoo.

Facial Recognition

Modern computers allow us to do things faster, more accurately and with less error than in the past. Facial recognition software leverages current technology and can identify someone with astounding accuracy. Many facial recognition software projects boast of 99% accuracy.

Face++ a Chinese Company, uses it's facial recognition software to allow a user to pay with their face. In other words you can pay a bill by scanning your face instead of using a signature.

In many cases a user must either move or speak while their face is being scanned to avoid fooling the software with a photograph.

Several companies offer their software to app developers so they can integrate facial integration software in to various mobile apps.

Facial recognition software is used for tracking and finding criminals, employee entrance pass systems, payment processing and more. It will be interesting to see what facial recognition software is used for next.

1. If you can go to the gym without telling people on Facebook, you are instantly hired by the CIA. 2. I got lost in your eyes. But I also get lost in most department stores, so I wouldn't read too much into it. 3. I like birthdays, but I think too many may kill me. 4. I like to hold hands at the movies... which always seems to startle strangers. 5. When I was at school, fifty two percent of the class were good at math. I was one of the other thirty eight percent. 6. I saw an ad for burial plots, and thought to myself this is the last thing I need. 7. My annual performance review says I lack "passion & intensity", guess management hasn't seen me alone with a Big Mac. 8. My wife's not too smart. I told her, our kids were spoiled. She said, "All kids smell that way." 9. I hope when I inevitably choke to death on gummy bears people just say I was killed by bears and leave it at that. 10. I want to be something really scary for Halloween this year so I'm dressing up as a phone battery at 2%.

NirSoft BulkFileChanger

BulkFileChanger is a small free utility that allows you to change file and folder attributes such as created, modified and access dates. This can be useful when you have a file or folder that changes these dates when they are backed up or when a file is moved.

To avoid backing up files that have not actually changed since the last back up was completed, BulkFileChanger can quickly modify multiple files so you can reduce the time taken to complete a back up.

The utility is small (100kb) and allows you to batch process multiple files.

NirSoft software comes from a trusted source but be aware that some of the software on the site may scan as a false positive by some anti virus and malware software. The very nature of some of the software (Password Recovery Tools etc.) available on the site makes this understandable.
