What
Story Is Your Website Telling
|
Storytelling in website design
is a sophisticated art form.
Whether the story your website
conveys resembles the intricate
strokes of a Monet or the
simplicity of a finger painting
is up to you. A masterpiece
escorts visitors along a path to
a lasting relationship, whereas
a finger painting tends to focus
solely on achieving a quick
transaction. To effectively draw
visitors to your website,
investing time in weaving the
story of your brand is
essential.
A visually
appealing design, including
navigational cues using text,
graphics, and videos can help
guide visitors as they unveil
your story. Subtle calls to
action are strategically placed
to lead visitors along a pathway
that begins with an
introduction, flows through the
heart of your story, and
culminates in a compelling
conclusion. Establishing a
narrative that resonates with
audiences significantly enhances
a user's journey to discovering
your brand.
Visitors are
more likely to form lasting
memories of a brand when an
emotional connection is
established. Incorporating
personal anecdotes,
testimonials, and insights into
your brand's history fosters
that emotional bond. Offering a
behind-the-scenes look gives
guests insight into your
business's inner workings. For
instance, a sporting goods store
might showcase employees
engaging in various sports and
assisting customers with the
necessary gear. This approach
forges a connection,
illustrating that the
individuals marketing the
products are also passionate
users.
Narrating the
challenges your business has
overcome not only forges an
emotional connection but also
provides insight into the
motivations behind your
practices. Sharing the journey
that led to the development of a
specific product or service
helps visitors understand what
drives your brand and
distinguishes it from
competitors.
The
fundamental steps to effective
storytelling include:
1.
Determine the narrative your
website should present. Consider
how it begins, its connection to
your brand, and where it
ultimately leads.
2.
Forge emotional connections
through the use of testimonials,
videos featuring customers
sharing their experiences,
employee stories, or insights
into your brand's history.
Utilize any approach that
fosters genuine connections with
your audience.
3. Use
your story as a guide to
intuitively navigate users
through your website. Leverage
images, text, videos, and other
content to facilitate a seamless
experience for your guests.
4. Ensure your story
enhances and clarifies your
brand identity. A well-crafted
narrative not only distinguishes
you from competitors but also
cultivates a unique presence in
the marketplace.
Most of
us want the people we know to
succeed, so let visitors know
who you are, and they will help
you reach success. Transforming
a transaction-centric website
into one that nurtures
relationships is the essence of
storytelling. By presenting your
narrative in a compelling way,
small businesses can cultivate
meaningful connections that
foster brand loyalty. |

Just For Grins
 |
- I took a long, hard
look at myself this morning. I won't be doing that
again.
- I realized I had a
road rage problem when My four year old kid shouted
"pick a lane you Jerk!" While sitting in the
grocery cart.
- Some people are wise.
Some are....otherwise.
- Doctor: You just need
to diet and exercise and you'll start feeling
better. Me: So it's terminal then?
- My wife and I have
started role playing in the bedroom, her favorite
is 'Sexy librarian' where I have to sit quietly
while she reads a book.
- I love the phrase
"bear with me" because it either means "be patient"
or "the zoo heist was a success."
- I figured out why I am
fat and loud...my shampoo says "for extra body and
volume"..it finally makes sense.
- What does it mean when
you put holy water on your skin and it burns?
Asking for a friend.
- A wise man once told
me... "Never fight a man wearing flip flops, that's
a guy who does not plan on running."
