Marketing Your Site What's New ?
The Second Step

The first step in most marketing campaigns is lead generation. The use of traditional advertising to generate leads is very common but it is not the only way to get a consumers attention. Email marketing, blogging, social media and several other methods have proven track records and can be very effective at attracting new leads. Simply getting their attention isn't enough however; many people want to research a potential purchase before committing to buy.

Offering a guide that answers the questions that a consumer might ask can fulfill that second step in a successful marketing campaign. A free guide can not only fill the consumer's research needs but may provide you with information that helps you guide a consumer to make the correct purchase. After all, the best customer is a satisfied one.

It used to be very expensive to offer a book, guide or even a pamphlet to a potential customer. Modern technology allows us to create something of value without spending much more than our time. Most word processing programs will print to PDF format with the appropriate drivers installed. (Check out this months tip for more info.) A PDF guide providing information specific to your business can be very valuable. Consider these examples: "Top Ten Auto Buying Tips" from a local car dealer. "College Funding Made Easy" from a Bank or Financial Planner. "Six Steps to Perfect Health" offered by a Physician or Hospital. Of course your guide would be specific to your business and offer information of value to the general public.

Most of us will provide contact information in exchange for valuable data, and an informed consumer often avoids poor buying decisions. This is a win - win situation. You collect information that helps you better serve your customers and the potential customer gains the necessary knowledge to avoid a purchasing mistake.

If your website visitor isn't ready to purchase, offer them a valuable guide to help them take that second step.
  Expensive Map

Does $50,000 sound like a lot of money for a map? The transit authority responsible for Montreal's Berri-UQAM metro station doesn't seem to think so. A Montreal Gamer has created a Counter-Strike: Global Offensive map of the station and intends to release it on a public server in March. The Gamer could face up to $50,000 in fines for creating the map. Full Story...
