What's New ?
Adding Quality Content to Your Website.
Some say that website content is no longer as important as it used to be when it
comes to search engine rankings. After more than ten years in the web
development business I don't believe this is true at all. Quality content is as
important as it ever was and perhaps now more than ever. So how do we add
quality content to our website?
There are several ways of adding quality
content to your website. One method is to add additional pages to your site. Not
any old page will do however, a new page should address a new product(s) or
service(s) that your company offers or provide information your visitors will
find useful and relevant.
A second method is the addition of a news or
newsletter page, a page with relevant press releases about your company or a
newsletter archive of business newsletters may be appropriate for some but not
everyone. A newsletter archive comprised of newsletters to existing customers or
subscribers can prove valuable where internal company newsletters can actually
hurt you with visitors.
Blogging is an option for many businesses but
remember a Blog that isn't updated regularly is worse than not having one at
all. Look for a Blog (Blog software or application) that notifies search engines
of new posts. RSS feeds of your Blog posts are essential as well.
customer forum if monitored and maintained can add valuable content to a site. A
frequently asked questions section should add relevant content that both
visitors and search engines can appreciate. A compilation or archive of industry
related articles written by owners or company staff can create additional
relevant content for your site.
No matter how you create additional site
content it is imperative that the content be relevant to your site visitors.
Irrelevant or outdated content will drive customers away from your site almost
as fast as you get them there.
The Whois Data Reminder Policy or WDRP
is a policy adopted by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers
(ICANN), which requires domain name registrants to review and update the their
domain names contact information.
In other words,
your domain name registrar (the place your domain name is registered) will
contact you (usually via email) each year and request that you review, verify
and update your contact information. It is important that you respond to
this request or your domain may be frozen until you do.
