|Easily Find Files and
It is often difficult to find files and folders after
downloading them from the internet or extracting them from a CD, DVD or Flash
Drive. The same problem often occurs after creating a file in a local program.
The problem is compounded if you can't remember the name of the file or folder
you are looking for.
Try creating folders for your files that include a
word or phrase referencing the file that will be easy to remember when
searching. Add the date the file is created or down loaded to the folder name as
well so you can search by the folder or file name as well as the date.
For example, I have a default folder that was created the moment I started using
the computer that all files downloaded from the internet are saved to. Inside
that folder is a folder for each downloaded program. After downloading Zone
Alarm I will make a folder named Zone Alarm 4-30-2012 and drag the file into it.
The current file name is zaSetupWeb_101_079_000.exe which is not so easy to
remember, but a quick search for Zone Alarm or 4-**-2012 will find the folder
quickly. Avoid forward / or back slashes \ in the date since they are generally
not accepted in folder names.
