Marketing Your Site What's New ?
Sales & Contests

Are you taking advantage of simple sales and contests on your website? How about on your Facebook business page? People love sales and they certainly like contests. It seems however, that online businesses or more succinctly small businesses that have an online presence avoid online promotions and sales. It is the same as running a sale ad in the newspaper except it's cheaper and easier.

A simple "10% off for a limited time" sale can generate sales, attract new customers, bring back old customers and help your business focus on specific products or services. A sale is a great way to reduce an over stocked item or to announce a new product line. Sales can also help promote a service, letting your customers and others know that you offer a popular service can be a real marketing boost.

Contests are a great way to create the stickiness every website strives for. Regular contests that allow for multiple entries can be a great way to get visitors to return again and again. Rotating ads or ads that change regularly can create sales and brand awareness on a sign up page. Some contests require that a visitor return to a website during a specific period to find out who won the contest and claim a prize.

A sale or contest does not need to break the bank. We all like to get something for nothing and a discount is always well received. Running periodic sales or promotions also creates fresh content and gives visitors a reason to return to your website over and over again. And isn't that what we all want?

Tutorials and guides were added along with a long overdue update to the website marketing evaluation page. The new site is highly optimized and loads extremely fast. Several links were added to top programs on the security and links page and a website redesign page was added. Stop by PPP Design and see the new look.

Easily Find Files and Folders

It is often difficult to find files and folders after downloading them from the internet or extracting them from a CD, DVD or Flash Drive. The same problem often occurs after creating a file in a local program. The problem is compounded if you can't remember the name of the file or folder you are looking for.

Try creating folders for your files that include a word or phrase referencing the file that will be easy to remember when searching. Add the date the file is created or down loaded to the folder name as well so you can search by the folder or file name as well as the date.

For example, I have a default folder that was created the moment I started using the computer that all files downloaded from the internet are saved to. Inside that folder is a folder for each downloaded program. After downloading Zone Alarm I will make a folder named Zone Alarm 4-30-2012 and drag the file into it. The current file name is zaSetupWeb_101_079_000.exe which is not so easy to remember, but a quick search for Zone Alarm or 4-**-2012 will find the folder quickly. Avoid forward / or back slashes \ in the date since they are generally not accepted in folder names.
