What's New

PPP Design has a new website. Well, actually PPP Design has two new websites. Visitors will have the opportunity to choose between a traditional html based website, or a site created with Macromedia's Flash. The html (hyper text mark up language, the traditional format for websites) site will provide the same information as the Flash site. Both sites will have a link to the newsletter archive.

Why two sites? Most web surfers (about 94%) have the flash plug-in installed in their browser, so they should be able to see both sites. However, in addition to the 6% that do not have the plug-in installed there are "light surfers", people that run browsers with no images, scripts, pop-ups, or plug-ins. People that choose this method of surfing can browse at much higher speeds, but they miss a great deal of content.

Both sites are optimized for newer web browsers, but people that refuse to update that old Netscape 4 browser will still be able to see it all. (If you went back to an old version of Netscape due to the load speed of Netscape 6, try the new Netscape 6.2, it's a huge improvement.)

To update your browser, download the Flash Plug-in, or visit the new PPP Design website you can click the links below.

Sale!

$ Marketing Your Site $

Online specials or sales are a great way to market your site. Once your customers realize that your specials or sales are listed on your site you can generate a high repeat traffic rate. And we would all like our customers to visit our site regularly. A regular dose of our logo and positive product descriptions can't hurt business. Many people bookmark their favorite sites when they know that a new sale or special will be available periodically.

In addition to regular promotions many companies offer specials that are only available online. A nice reward for the customer willing to visit your site monthly.

Promote your online specials or sales along with other advertising. " Visit us online for current (or additional) specials or sales"; this can be an effective way to compliment other marketing efforts.

Don't forget to include your website address in other advertising, remember your website is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, even when your ad isn't running.

Where Did That File Go?

Have you ever downloaded a file and wondered where it went? Have you searched the net looking for your favorite MP3, finally found it, downloaded and can't find it anywhere? Well your favorite rendition of Tiny Tim's "Tip Toe Through the Tulips" has to be there, somewhere, doesn't it?

You could search that 80 gigabyte hard drive file by file, or use the search utility. But what if it has a strange name and a different format than you expected. Maybe it is named badbadmusic.wma. (.wma is the extension for windows media audio, you can play these on your windows media player)

The easiest way to solve this problem is to designate a folder specifically for downloaded files. Name it something you will remember like "downloads" and remember the path to the new folder. Something like this; C:\program files\downloads.

Of course, you may name and place the folder anywhere you wish. Whenever you download something from the internet and are prompted to save the file, be certain to choose your new folder. After a few downloads your system will remember this as your folder of choice and will begin to open that folder automatically, every time you download a file.

Now you will know where all those downloaded files are. Be sure to clean up this file periodically by deleting old files or adding subfolders with the name of the stored file.
