Webinars
or E-Seminars E-Seminars,
sometimes called Webinars, can be a very productive
marketing tool. E-Seminars are very much like their off-line
counterpart. However, unlike a traditional Seminar an
E-Seminar generally is not held live. E-Seminars typically
include text and graphics designed to teach or instruct
regarding a specific topic. Although usually placed on line
in parts or sections to make the content easier to digest,
an E-Seminar can be completed in one online posting. E-Seminars
are similar to Blog's (Web Logs) except they offer a
specific start and end date to the Seminar. There
are many ways to market an E-Seminar or Webinar. The two
most common methods are area advertising and e-mail
invitations. Here
is an example: A
local Auto Parts Store decides to host an E-Seminar with
instructions on basic car care. In advance of the first
posting the Auto Parts Store advertises the event in local
papers, on the radio and with posters or signs at their
physical store. They may even decide to have guest
instructors from several area Auto Service Departments. The
Guest instructors may want to advertise the event as
well. If
the store has an e-mail list of patrons that want to be
notified of specials or special events, the store should
e-mail the list announcing the seminar and include the web
site address where the E-Seminar can be found. The
Auto Parts Store should decide how many sections or separate
postings will be required to complete the E-Seminar and this
information, including dates for each posting should be
included in all advertising. When
a new section is posted online the previous section or
sections should be archived so people that visit in the
middle of the E-Seminar can refer to the archives to receive
the complete course. Add
an opt-in e-mail form to the area of your web site where the
E-Seminars are displayed and collect information to expand
your e-mail list. E-Seminars
are a great way to promote your web site, add credibility,
increase sales, and increase brand recognition.

The New Denison Links
We have been tracking visitors to The New
Denison Links since the site was overhauled in May. The site
has seen a 117% increase in visitors since the
redesign and the count is still growing. We advertised The
New Denison Links using small, inexpensive classified ads
and on the local cable channel. The classified ads lasted
for 6 weeks and the Cable Channel ad ran every other Friday
during the same time (a total of 4 ads). This just shows
that advertising your web site does not have to be
expensive. Less than one hundred dollars in advertising
created a large increase in visitors.
Remember your banner ad on The New
Denison Links?
The average banner impressions (visitor
views) is 112. This means that each banner has been viewed
an average of 112 times. The average hits per banner is 4,
meaning that each of your sites has been visited an average
of four times due to the banner ads.
This establishes an impression to hit
ratio of 28/1, which is inline with other banner ad
promotions. These aren't huge numbers but it has only been
two months. We would expect the numbers to grow as the
number of visitors increase.
