What's New ?

 Easy Holiday Promotion

Post a special code or word on your website. Offer a special incentive if the code or word is mentioned at checkout in your store.

Be sure to inform people that the special code or word can be found on your web site in all your advertising and promotions. You can even place a poster in your store with the web address and a tease regarding the special.

The special word or code can be good for a storewide discount, a discount on specific products or services or for an extra incentive like a free ornament, gift or giveaway. Use your imagination and this type of promotion can be profitable and fun.

To make things easier, we are offering to post and remove the special word or code on your website for free. Contact PPP Design before Christmas and we will post the necessary information on your website free of charge and remove the special in January.

You can't get much easier than that!

Windows Live Ideas

Windows has a new idea called Windows Live Ideas. What is Windows Live? Microsoft states that, "your online world gets better when everything works simply and effortlessly together".

Microsoft Live Ideas is a compilation of Beta programs and applications that address a myriad of computer user concerns.

  • Live.com beta, live page content, where you decide what is displayed on the page.

  • Windows Live Mail beta, a new online mail system that allows you to work in a fashion similar to Outlook.

  • Windows Live Safety Center beta offers online scans for viruses, spyware, Trojans and more. The Live Safety Center also helps clean unwanted or unnecessary files from your computer as well as testing to see if your system is running optimally.

  • Windows Live Favorites beta allows you to get to the important sites you use even when you are away from your own computer. Your Internet Explorer Favorites can travel with you.

  • Windows OneCare Live beta, several items necessary for computer and internet use wrapped in one package that updates its self. Virus scan, PC Tune-up, Firewall settings, Software backups and more.

Ten Ways to Get Even with Santa for Not Bringing the Gift You Wanted last Year.

1. Instead of milk and cookies, leave him a salad, and a note explaining that you think he could stand to lose a few pounds.
2. Leave him a note, explaining that you've gone away for the holidays. Ask if he would mind watering your plants.
3. Keep an angry bull in your living room. If you think a bull goes crazy when he sees a little red cape, wait until he sees that big, red Santa suit!
4. Build an army of mean-looking snowmen on the roof, holding signs that say "Go away Santa"
5. While he's in the house, find the sleigh and sit in it. As soon as he comes back and sees you, tell him that he shouldn't have missed that last payment, and take off.
6. Take everything out of your house as if it's just been robbed. When Santa arrives, show up dressed like a policeman and say, "Well, well. They always return to the scene of the crime."
7. Paint "hoof-prints" all over your face and clothes. While he's in the house, go out on the roof. When he comes back up, act like you've been "trampled." Threaten to sue.
8. Throw a surprise party for Santa when he comes down the chimney. Refuse to let him leave until the strippers arrive, making him late for the rest of his rounds. (Not sure if this punishes Santa)
9. Pay your fat, drunken Neighbor to dress like Santa and follow him around screaming, "He's not the real Santa!"
10. Dress up like the Easter Bunny. Wait for Santa to come and then say, "This neighborhood just ain't big enough for the both of us."

Annual PC Maintenance

I normally remind everyone of basic computer maintenance tips to take care of before the end of the year. (This maintenance should take place throughout the year, but year end is a great time for a reminder.) This year however, I decided to defer to my favorite newsletter writer, Fred Langa, Author of the popular Langa List. Mr. Langa also frequently writes for Information Week, an online TechWeb Network.

Fred Langa currently has an article on Information Week entitled, "A Complete PC Maintenance Checklist". The article is a thorough examination of PC maintenance tips, tricks and tools. Fred suggests that you customize the checklist based on your PC use and needs. You can view the article by following the link below.
