Page Jacking & Mouse Trapping

.Sounds serious and it is! Page Jacking and Mouse Trapping have been around for awhile but the culprits are becoming more savvy. The people that use these techniques are called scammers, they use the meta tags (tags that are hidden in an html page for search engine indexing) of legitimate sites and create digital copies of the site and submit the new site to several search engines. When someone does a legitimate search and chooses one of the scammer sites they are redirected to the site of the scammers choosing. Often used by Pornography sites to increase click through rates or visitors so they can hike advertising rates, this technique is becoming popular with fringe sites such as warez, illegal music download and video sites.

Mouse Trapping is what happens when you arrive at the scammer site. Often the back button brings you right back to the home page of the site generating another visitor count. Your close, back and forward buttons may be ineffective in trying to close or navigate away from the site.

This hurts legitimate sites as potential customers are drawn away by scammers. It may also cause customers to stop looking for a legitimate site.

If you are ever mouse trapped go to "Tools" - "Internet Options" - "Advanced" in your browser and turn off Java scripting. this may free you from the trap.

You may also try reporting the scammer site to their hosting company, many Internet Service Providers frown on malicious redirects.

  Premiums

How many magnets, calendars, or promotions are on your refrigerator? How many of them have a business name or organization listed on them. How about your key chain, the last pen you used, or that cute little flash light. Premiums are given everyday by literally thousands of business's. Premiums are used because they work. They get your business name out in front of a prospective customer.

I still have a comb that was given to me 5 or more years ago by the nice lady that cuts my hair. It has the name of her business embossed on the side of the comb. I keep the comb in my glove box and it comes in handy on windy days. I appreciated her thoughtfulness, and still appreciate it each time I use the comb.

I know I have to continue to get my hair cut regularly, and not all business ventures have nature on their side when it comes to repeat sales. But every business has a need to be recognized. We have to have our name out in front of our customers.

There are hundreds if not thousands of affordable premiums available. Remember is doesn't have to be expensive. Check out the link in hot links for a company that offers several different kinds of premiums.

Electronic premiums work for your computer using clients (who isn't now days). They reside on a customers desktop, displaying your logo with links to your website and email.

Just don't forget to include your website address on your next premium.

An old farmer had owned a large farm for many years. He had a large
pond in the back forty, the pond was fixed for swimming when it was built.

One evening the old farmer decided to go down to the pond and look it over. As he neared the pond, he heard voices shouting and laughing with glee. As he came closer he saw it was a bunch of young women skinny-dipping in his pond.

He made the women aware of his presence and they all went to the deep
end of the pond. One of the women shouted to him, "We're not coming
out until you leave!"

The old man replied, "I didn't come down here to
watch you ladies swim or make you get out of the pond, I only came to
feed my alligators."

Old age & treachery will triumph over youth & skill every time!
