It All Starts With a Sale

Developing a quality sales process is a multi step endeavor. Choosing a product line, defining the market and developing a sales force is not always easy. The experience needed for successful product evaluation, market study and training is not easy to come by. Most successful business people have made their share of mistakes in this area and have learned from those mistakes. But there is another ingredient that if lacking can stand in the way of a successful product campaign.

The most experienced professionals know that a quality sales process alone will not assure success. Quality service is also necessary. Service at and beyond the sale is required to attain and retain a loyal customer base. A quality service process must be developed along with the sales process for a business to flourish.

Quality sales and quality service combine to create a complete business process. You have probably heard the phrase, "Build a better mouse trap, and the world will beat a path to your door". This sounds good, but without a trained sales staff no one will know that the mousetrap exists. And without a quality service process you will most likely miss out on repeat sales.

It is not enough to simply sell something. Merchants should consider what prompted the sale and address the issue through service. When a quality sales process is combined with quality service a merchant can build a loyal customer base that may purchase again and again.		 iPad2 Already?

First I should tell you that I do not own an iPad so I won't be doing a product review here. If sales are an indicator then the reviews are in anyway, the iPad is a resounding success.

With the iPad not quite ready to celebrate it's first birthday, the iPad2 has entered the market. With upgrades in processor power and ram the iPad2 promises to be much faster than the iPad. Reviews state the speed is noticeable but not stunning.

With a price tag of 500 to around 800 (this depends on the amount of flash memory chosen) dollars is the upgrade worth it? The iPad2 has been on the market for about 2 weeks and is almost impossible to get due to back orders.

I understand the need to out pace the competition and it looks like Apple will have it's second generation tablet out before many have a first version tablet available. But an upgrade that requires a new purchase in less than a year? I could understand upgrading components but if the iPad is anything like the iPod, upgrading an existing model won't be available.

Apple has proven it can restrain itself when it comes to compatibility, how about a show of restraint when it comes to planned obsolescence.
