High Quality Leads An April 2009 business marketing
survey detailed 69% of respondents felt that generating high
quality leads was a priority while only 35% thought generating
a high volume of leads was a priority. Interesting but what
does this mean? This makes it clear that the number of leads a
business receives is perceived as half as important as the
quality of those leads. Nice to know, but it doesn't tell us
anything about how to attract a quality lead.
Your website is naturally geared toward qualifying leads, in
other words your site can and does weed through the volume of
leads that are directed to it and qualifies these leads for
you. In addition to qualifying leads your website even helps
weed through prospective customers and directs only the most
qualified purchasers directly to you. Didn't know your website
could do that? Well, let me explain.
When a visitor comes to your website they usually arrive in
one of three ways. Via a search engine, by clicking a link
provided on another site or they type the URL (domain name) of
your site directly in to the browser. All three types are
qualified leads. The visitor searched for and chose to visit
your site, they clicked on a link with text that indicated
what type of website you have or they received or saw the
domain name somewhere and were interested enough to visit your
site. Now all three types of visitors are qualified but I
wouldn't consider all of them as highly qualified.
To reach the level of a high quality lead it is necessary for
the visitor to be aware of what your product or service is,
find it affordable and be ready to consider a purchase. The
content of your website weeds out the visitors that aren't
certain about a specific product or service for whatever
reason. It also prompts them to make decisions based on price,
service area, your expertise, size of need and any number of
other criteria. When a visitor decides they have enough
information to contact you they would certainly be considered
highly qualified.
The content or copy and the layout and visitor flow on your
website can make a big difference as to how highly qualified
your leads are. A F.A.Q. or frequently asked questions
section, product demonstration videos, access to contact
information and how easy a visitor finds your site to navigate
can all impact which visitors leave and which ones become
highly qualified leads. Think of your website as a miner
panning for gold, make sure he has the right equipment and the
precious gems rise to the top. |
