What's New ?

 Super Bowl! Super Bucks!

Thinking about purchasing an ad during the Super Bowl? If you are, prepare your self for sticker shock, a 30 second spot will cost $2.7 million dollars this year. But you do get to reach 90 million potential customers. Experts say that a commercial viewed as a hit during the big game can generate millions of dollars in sales for the advertiser, an ad viewed as a clunker can be devastating.

What is interesting is that most advertisers still love the internet for its ability to deliver measured results and target audiences by visitor segments. But to date only television and major events such as the Super Bowl, the Olympics and major award shows have been able to generate the number of viewers that garner multi million dollar ad spots. Advertisers still use the internet to confirm advertisement success by monitoring the climb in visitors to a website after an ad is broadcast.

In essence the internet has become a measuring stick that wasn't available 15 or even 10 years ago. As well as being able to measure results in a timely fashion, the internet also allows for off-web advertisements to promote a brand and let the website do the rest. You often see ads that feature a few highlights and attempt to drive viewers to their website for additional information or even to close the sale.

If people spending millions of dollars on advertising know that it works, why wouldn't we promote our businesses in the same manner? Of course we don't have to spend millions on a Super Bowl ad but why not feature highlights in our advertising and use our websites to follow up with consumers and measure results.

Utilizing the same strategies employed by Super Bowl advertisers could result in some super bucks for you as well.

Deep Thoughts by Jack Handy (Remember Him?)

1. If you ever drop your keys into a river of molten lava, let'em go, because, man, they're gone.
2. If trees could scream, would we be so cavalier about cutting them own? We might, if they screamed all the time, for no good reason."
3. To me, it's a good idea to always carry two sacks of something when you walk around. That way, if anybody says, "Hey, can you give me a hand?" You can say, "Sorry, got these sacks."
4. If you lived in the Dark Ages and you were a catapult operator, I bet the most common question people would ask is, "Can't you make it shoot farther?" "No, I'm sorry. That's as far as it shoots."
5. If a kid asks where rain comes from, I think a cute thing to tell him is, "God is crying." And if he asks why God is crying, another cute thing to tell him is, "Probably because of something you did."
6. If you ever catch on fire, try to avoid seeing yourself in the mirror, because I bet that's what REALLY throws you into a panic.
7. To me, boxing is like a ballet, except there's no music, no choreography and the dancers hit each other.
8. I hope if dogs ever take over the world and they choose a king, they don't just go by size, because I bet there are some Chihuahuas with some good ideas.
9. If you go flying back through time and you see somebody else flying forward into the future, it's probably best to avoid eye contact.
10. I can picture in my mind a world without war, a world without hate. And I can picture us attacking that world, because they'd never expect it.

TrueCrypt

Many experts agree that the only way to truly secure data is to encrypt it. TrueCrypt is a free, open source encryption tool that not only allows you to encrypt a hard drive but also allows you to encrypt data on a flash drive so if it is lost or stolen you are protected.

Although it requires an administrator account to set up an encrypted file, you don't need to be an administrator to mount the encrypted container later on.

According to the FAQ on the TrueCrypt Web site, as long as you create an encrypted container on one part of the Flash drive, and put TrueCrypt on another part of the drive (i.e., not in the container), you should be able to access the data.

If you have data you want to protect give TrueCrypt a try.
