Marketing Your Site

What's New ?

 F.A.Q.

A Frequently Asked Questions section on your website can serve several purposes. The first is obvious. The F.A.Q. section on your site can help visitors answer questions they may have after reading the existing information on your site.

Second, a F.A.Q. section can answer questions that are commonly asked after a visitor has purchased your product or service. This alleviates buyers remorse and problems arising from a customer misunderstanding the service or product.

Third, a customer who is better informed is more likely to purchase and less likely to require unnecessary post sale service

A final, less obvious use for a F.A.Q section is made relevant this time of year. A F.A.Q. section that provides information regarding store returns may make the process more convenient for the customer and less stressful for you. Return information is commonly handled in the Terms and Conditions section of an online store, but for those who haven't gone that route a F.A.Q. section that includes return information can solve problems in advance.

    Business Promotional Tools

Business Promotional Tools or Desktop Applications have been around for a long time, however a new desktop application qualifies for the "What's New" section of this newsletter.

DHS News and Announcements is a new desktop application developed by PPP Design. The desktop application allows anyone interested in Denison School District information to download and view daily announcements from each of the three schools and the District. The application even has space designated for weather related announcements.

The application is small, compact and customized for the Denison School District. You can view or download the application here.

The DHS News and Announcements application is an example of a Business Promotional Tool that remains on a customers desktop promoting the owners brand.

Back to School Excuses
We all butcher the English Language at times but some of these really stand out. These are posted exactly like they were submitted to School Officials.

1."My son is under the doctor's care and should not take P.E. today," wrote a parent. "Please execute him."

2. "Please excuse Mary for being absent," wrote another parent. "She was sick and I had her shot."

3. Dear School:  Please eckuse John being absent on Jan. 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, and also 33.

4. Pleazse excuse Roland from P.E. for a few day. Yesterday he fell out of a tree and misplaced his hip.

5. John has been absent because he had two teeth taken off his face.

6. Carlos was absent yesterday because he was playing football. He was hurt in the growing part.

7. Mary could not come to school because she has been bothered by very close veins.

8. Please excuse Jimmy for being. It was his father's fault.

9. Please excuse my son's tardiness. I forgot to wake him up and I did not find him till I started making the beds.

10. Please excuse Mary from being absent yesterday. She was in bed with gramps.

  Year End Computer Checklist

To keep your computer running at its best in 2005 follow these tips. Many of the tips have links to more detailed instructions. I strongly recommend that you back up your computer before taking the following steps. You can use the Windows Backup Utility found in your Accessories/System Tools Menu but I recommend Acronis True Image. (A commercial Product)

1. Uninstall all unwanted programs: Remove programs that you don't use or need, these programs take up space and some even use cpu resources even when they aren't in use.

Add and Remove Programs

2. Turn off any unnecessary programs that Startup when Windows Starts: Use MsConfig to eliminate unwanted Startups.

MsConfig Instructions

3. Remove Outdated Antivirus Programs: For a free alternative try AVG Antivirus Free Edition.

4. Install and run both Spybot Search and Destroy and LavaSoft AdAware Personal Edition to eliminate any spy ware on your computer.

5. Eliminate Temporary files:

Disk Cleanup Wizard
Windows 98, Me, 2000, and XP come with a Disk Cleanup Wizard that streamlines the process of clearing out unwanted temp files. To access the Wizard, click on the Start button and choose Programs (All Programs in Windows XP). Then choose Accessories, System Tools, and Disk Cleanup. The Disk Cleanup Wizard will ask which Partition you wish to clean. After choosing a specific partition (usually C:) you will have several cleanup options available to you. Check the boxes for any temporary files, click O.K. and the Wizard will eliminate the temporary files for you.

6. Scandisk and Defrag:

Scandisk and Defrag Instructions

7. Windows Updates: Install any appropriate Windows Updates. Windows Update

8. Make a fresh Backup of your faster, cleaner system.

I searched for what I thought were the easiest and most straight forward instructions for each of these steps. If one of the links seems complicated or unclear type the tip into Google to find additional resources.

Finally, Clean the inside of your computer: Instructions for cleaning the Inside of Your Computer. Follow these tips and your computer should run faster, load quicker and have fewer glitches in 2005.
