Marketing Your Site

What's New ?

Lets Get Personal

We have all seen the "Crazy Bob" (insert appropriate name) used car salesman stereotype. How effective is this type of marketing? It can be very effective if the person doing the advertising has the personality to pull it off, otherwise it becomes a cliché and can actually damage consumer trust.

The best way to present yourself to potential customers is simply be yourself. Let your personality and professionalism come through in your marketing. If you are shy, don't pretend to be "Crazy Bob", develop your marketing so it takes advantage of your well liked personality traits. If you are shy but devoted to customer service, try marketing that fits, like, " I may be a wall flower but I am not shy about providing excellent customer service". Of course, I hope you come up with a phrase that is catchier than this one but you get the point. You have stressed the fact that you focus on customer service and your customer will get exactly what they expected.

If you don't mind writing notes you can take advantage of a great method used to build customer relationships. When someone does a good deed, has a major accomplishment or is in the news, send that person a note thanking them for their good deed or recognizing their accomplishment. A quick personal note with your Name, Company Name, Web Site Address and Email address in small print at the bottom of the note can have a huge impact when building relationships. Be sure to personally sign the note and send it in a timely fashion. The note can be as simple as:

Dear Bob,

Thanks for your effort on my behalf. I sincerely appreciate
everything you have done.

Thanks,

Who wouldn't like a note like that? For extra impact send a note to their boss, if warranted. Attach a news clipping if available, and let them know you noticed. Most business results from building relationships, and how can you develop a relationship with someone when you never reveal who you really are?

Top Ten Ways to Annoy Telemarketers

10. Pretend you don't speak English.

9. Say “Hold on,” then scream to a nonexistent person: “If you try to take the knife out, it'll just hurt worse!”

8. Burst into tears when money is mentioned.

7. Ask if the deal is good for any or all of your personalities.

6. Tell them you'll accept their offer if they can guess what you had for breakfast last Tuesday.

5. Repeat everything they say in the form of a question. i.e.: Can I really get 20 magazines for the price of 4!

4. As soon as they identify themselves, say, “You guys are still in business? Well, I guess the ATF said it would take a few days.”

3. Tell them the restraining order applies to phone calls as well as physical distance.

2. Mutter: “Aww, darn. Not another one. The last Telemarketer almost got me the death penalty.”

1. Listen carefully, and when they finish, Say, " Since I have you on the line, have you ever considered an extended bicycle warranty, for only 99.95, you too can be protected from chain rash".

How to show The Date Next to the Clock in Your Task Bar.

If you hover your cursor over the time in the lower right corner of your task bar the Day and Date will appear temporarily. There are two other more permanent solutions.

1. Some operating systems allow you to unlock the task bar and pull it up so it is twice the normal size. Often the date is permanently displayed under the time. This also allows for more room on your quick launch bar.

2. You can also download and install TrayDate, an extremely small freeware software program (approx.21 kb) that displays the date in your taskbar alongside your clock.

Also try TClockEx, it is a little larger program but will accomplish the same thing.
