Now What ?
Have you seen the commercial where two people are rock
climbing and a boulder falls and demolishes their car? "NowWhat.com"
pops on to the screen. Or another commercial where a young man
is sitting in a public place with his laptop and while
momentarily distracted his laptop is stolen? Now What?
Do you know which company is responsible for these
commercials? If not, you haven't been to "NowWhat.com". State
Farm Insurance is responsible for the “Now What?” series of
commercials. On the "Now What?" website you can find renters
insurance information, car insurance quotes, instant message a
"Now What?" moment to a friend, and "Now What?" Music.
Would you go the State Farm website if the rock fell on the
car and it said "StateFarm.com"? Who knows? Cross domain
marketing offers companies an opportunity to focus on the
reaction of a consumer to very specific advertising and
provide the same or similar services that they currently
offer.
How can you use cross domain marketing to promote your
website? It is relatively easy. Imagine a furniture store that
purchases the “sitcomfortably.com” domain and runs small ads
in area newspapers with a picture of someone sitting
comfortably in a recliner and the domain name
“sitcomfortably.com” beside it. An ad like this may peak the
interest of several people that see the ad. These same people
may not respond to an ad that specifically lists the furniture
stores website, but sit comfortably is something all of us can
relate to.
The “sitcomfortably.com” website is a
separate website but it only has one page. The page says,
“Would you like to find out how you can sit more comfortably?”
Beneath the question are the furniture store logo and a link
that says find out more, the link takes the visitor directly
to the stores line of recliners. Is there a
catchy domain name that fits your business? |
