Business
Cards We
have discussed including your web site address on your
business card many times. This tip takes a closer look at
that mighty little marketing tool, the Business Card. Experts
suggest that a business card should have no more than 3
blocks of interest on the main or front panel. Why three?
Well, it seems most of us can't or won't focus on more than
three items at a time. If we exceed three, we run the risk
of confusing the client or muddling the message we are
trying to get across.
What
was it we were supposed to look at on this card? We have all
seen business cards like this, a directory of numbers,
addresses, logos and names. What if the card looked a little
more like this?
Three
focus areas, no more! We know Michael sells premiere surf
boards and he would either like us to call him or
visit the web site. There is also enough room for a personal
note if Michael wishes to leave one. Perhaps he could hand
write his cell number on the card when he is leaving it with
a customer to add a personal touch. The
logo and company name could be moved to the left and a
picture of Michael could be added in the top right corner as
long as the picture remains in the same focus area as the
company name and logo. Now let's make
this card a real sales tool! Between the phone number and
the web site address Michael handwrites the password to a
protected area on the website. He then informs his customer
that this password will allow him to enter a special area on
the website where the customer can download tips regarding
surf board care, receive a discount or access members only
information. Has Michael's business card just become more
valuable? A typical business card is looked
at three times. When it is received. When
it is filed. And when it is disposed
of. Increase the odds that your card
will be viewed more than three times by leaving more than
one card behind and asking your customer to hand them to his
friends. Do this after asking for additional copies of their
business card to distribute. People love to reciprocate. Be
creative there are hundreds of ways to make your business
card a sales maker. Remember the three focus area rule
as a guide line. That's about it for business
cards....except the back of the card and all that wasted
space! |
Some Housekeeping..
Those of you who use AVG, the free anti
virus protection software may have noticed some difficulty
while trying to download updates earlier this month. I
eventually went to the website and manually downloaded an
update. This was a little extra work but well worth the
trouble for a free product that offers great protection.
There was obviously some sort of
server problem that seems to be fixed now. I have received
the last several updates without a problem.
