Monarchs vs Atlantic |
The Monarch Marching Band performed before the kick-off at Friday Nights home opener.

Senior Football Players and their Parents were honored prior to the Monarchs game vs Atlantic on Friday. |
Senior Cross Country and Band Students were also honored along with their Parents.

After introductions, the Monarchs huddled together on the field. |
Monarch Captains met at mid field and shook hands with Atlantic Team Captains.

Andrew (1) handled the kick-off return for the Monarchs. |

Jeremy (32) got the call on the first play and he ran up the middle for a gain of about 5 yards.

Brady (21) followed up with a run for 3 yards. |
Jeremy (32) went off left tackle and rumbled for a first down. |
Brady (21) beat defenders to the corner and ran around the right end for 7 or 8 yards. |
Ricky (5) dropped back and threw a long pass up field.

Austin (2) went up and made a nice catch over a defenders out stretched arms. The play netted 30 plus yards. |

After a short run up the middle, the Monarchs dropped back and Ricky (5) threw a pass toward the end zone.

Austin (2) made the catch for a touch down despite being covered by to defenders. |
The extra point was good with Austin (2) holding the ball as Carl (41) put it through the uprights. |

An off sides call gave the Monarchs a first down. The Monarchs ran what appeared to be the same play and Brady (21) picked up about 3 yards on the play. |
Brady (21) got the call around the left end and picked up another first down for the Monarchs.

The Monarchs were forced to punt a few plays later and Austin (2) put the ball in play. |

There was no return and the ball bounced out of bounds between the 6 and 7 yard line.

Tanner (25) made the tackle on a QB keeper up the middle and Grant (11) closed in for an assist. |
A Monarch Team tackle stopped Atlantic on the next play. Jeremy (32), Aaron (77), Tanner (25), Kyle (35) and others were in on the stop.

After Atlantic converted on third and very short, Matt (4) tipped the ball away from a receiver with a nice defensive play. |

A couple of plays later, Ricky (5) dropped back and made a nice pass under pressure. |

The Monarchs held a 7-0 lead when they went to the sideline at the end of the first quarter. |
Ricky (5) threw a quick pass to the right on the first play of the 2nd quarter.

Ricky (5) backtracked as the defense closed in then flipped a little screen pass across the middle.

Brady (21) had some nice blocks and made a nice move on a defensive back after making the catch. |

Both teams were forced to punt on consecutive possessions, Austin (2) handled the punt for the Monarchs. There was no return. |

Atlantic eventually scored on the drive but missed the extra point. Atlantic tried a short kick that was returned by Zac (24). The Monarchs went to the locker room at half time with a 14-6 lead. |

Aaron (77) and Tanner (25) made the stop after a short gain on Atlantics first play from scrimmage in the second half.

Jeremy (32) helped up the Atlantic Q.B. after he made the stop on a Keeper up the middle. |
Tanner (25) pressured the Q.B. and Matt (4) covered the receiver for an incomplete pass forcing Atlantic to punt on 4th and 5. The Monarchs started on their own 46 yard line.

Matt (4) flipped the ball back to Ricky (5).

Ricky (5) took a hit on the play but was able to get a pass off. |

The ball was tipped high in to the air, Jeremy (32) and an Atlantic player both humped up to grab it and went to the ground together. The officials ruled that Jeremy gained possession of the ball.

The right side of the line opened a huge hole on the next play and Jeremy (32) picked up 9 yards and a first down before he was even touched.

On fourth down Atlantic tried a fake punt but Tanner (25) ran the punter down in the back field and made the stop. |
Brady (21) ran through a huge hole on the right side of the line then cut to the outside and picked up about 15 yards. |
Jeremy (32) ran off the right tackle for a gain of five yards. |
Brady (21) ran off left tackle and picked up a first down by dragging two defenders the last two yards. |
After a short run up the middle, Brady (21) zig zagged through the Atlantic back field until he was brought down around the 6 yard line. |
Jeremy (32) got the call and ran to around the 2 yard line before two defenders could make the stop. |
Jeremy (32) followed a nice push by the O-line and ran across the goal line for another Monarch Touchdown. |
Austin (2) and Carl (41) watched as the extra point sailed through the uprights giving the Monarchs a 35-20 lead.

During the next series, Trevor (80) sacked the Q.B. deep in the Atlantic backfield leaving Atlantic to much to overcome. The Monarchs finished with a 35-20 victory over Atlantic. |
