DHS HAS RECORD NUMBER IN ALL-STATE
The Denison High School Music Department is proud to announce that 14
individuals have qualified for an All-State ensemble. Six vocalists,
seven band members and one orchestra member were selected at the
district auditions held in Atlantic last Saturday.
Vocalists selected include: Paige (daughter of Pat and Dan), Alex (son
of Steve and Deb), Natalie (daughter of Wayne and Marilyn), Dan (son
of Kurt and Colene), Logan (son of Scott and Karen), and Julie
(daughter of Fred and Deb).
Instrumentalists selected include: Holly (daughter of K.R. and
Karla), flute; Sarah (daughter of Michelle), contra-bass clarinet;
Janae (daughter of John and Kathe), alto clarinet, Sarah (daughter of
Merle and), baritone; Ling (exchange student from China, hosted by
Barb), violin; Courtney Sorenson (daughter of Kathy and Jeff), bass
clarinet; Emily (granddaughter of Bill and Margaret), and Zack (son of
Gordon and Bonnie), tuba.
The 2006 Festival will celebrate the 60th anniversary of this
prestigious event. District Auditions for the 279-piece All-State
Band, 197-piece All-State Orchestra, and 600-voice All-State Chorus
were held Saturday, October 21st at six district sites across Iowa.
Approximately 17% of the students who audition are selected for
membership in All-State ensembles.
Participants will rehearse in Ames on Friday and Saturday, November
17 and 18th, and the Festival Concert will be presented to the public
at 7:30 PM in the Hilton Coliseum, Iowa State University, Ames, on
Saturday evening. Iowa Public Television will record the concert for
broadcast tentatively scheduled for Thursday, November 23rd at 7:00
PM and again on Sunday, November 26 at 1:30 PM. Please check the

the auspices of the Iowa High School Music Association and the Iowa
Music Educators Association.
Tickets are $15.00 each and all seats are reserved. They are
available at the Iowa State Center Ticket Office at their window or
