Comments:
The boys had a good race overall for their season opener.
Dacotah Hamilton had an outstanding race to start off his high school career.
Taylor Crampton took a chance early and ran with the leaders and toughed out
the race. Carter Berens, Collin Marten and Tristan Heese ran most of the
race together and all had exciting finishes. Kyle Andresen ran a good race,
but is still bugged by a reoccurring injury. For their first high school races,
Ryan Petersen and Tanner Dozark helped each other and led to their fine races.
Jacob Glenn and high school rookies Quintin Lovan and Tyler Reimers set the
pace for each other all the way to the finish with tough kicks.
Also newcomers Tim Teut and Nick Hargens ran great together for most of the
race until Tim made a huge move to pass many runners late in the race.
Aaron Lingren and Brady Goodwin toughed out the course and ran fine races.
The boys did pack up and run together like we had talked about, but now some
need to find the right packs. Nice running men!

Comments:
Abby Mendlik and Brooke Wehle ran great races, and can run even
better when they work together and pack up. For Whitney Gustafson's high
school debut race, she had a fine one. She and Faith Richard put themselves
in the right position at the right times to make moves. Followed very closely
behind were Hayli Winans and freshman Kristin Ploeger. This group of four will
become a very tough pack for the team. Cassie Morgan ran a tough race to start
her her high school career. Kay Lovan was affected by the heat and humidity but
still toughed out the race. I am excited to see how the girls season plays out.
We have a smaller team than recent years, but it is filled with talented girls

Boys cc comments

The boys ran better today than they did at the same meet last year, but there is still room for improvement. Dacotah Hamilton moved up well though the pack, but needs to start closer to the leaders. Taylor Crampton ran a tactically smart race and will only continue to improve as we train. Collin Marten has gotten stronger over the summer and it is showing in his workouts and races. Tristan Heese and Kyle Andresen battled soreness today but still toughed it out to the finish. Ryan Petersen gave a solid effort and a strong finish. With a full strength team, the results obviously would have been very different. The team must learn from this experience about the importance of all seven runners.

Girls CC Comments

The girls ran well, but there is still room for improvement. Abby Mendlik led most of the race, but still had to rely on her sprinting speed for the win. Brooke Wehle put herself in the perfect position to run another great race. Faith Richard had to move up though the field to earn her medal. Whitney Gustafson ran a tough race in close contact with Faith and Hayli Winans. Hayli ran well in spite of a small soreness. Kristin Ploeger started far back in the field, but was able to battle back to her position. Our focus for the next meet is closing the gaps between our runners.
